Rumson Grasshoppers Are Making Big Leaps

Rumson, NJ - Led by the excellent coaching of Mike Grillo and John DeGirolamo, the Rumson Rec Grasshoppers finished up a great season this spring. After the extended off-season of 2020, it was a remarkable year as many of the players were first timers. Despite the long hiatus from the game, these 1st graders played like major leaguers.

The play was consistent throughout the entire Grasshoppers roster. Brody D, Nicholas E , Luca P, William S and Ashton K all showed brilliance in the field on the defensive side. Matthew K, Trey H and J.P. Grillo were all monsters at the plate. Meanwhile, James K and Jordan C consistently displayed some speedy base running throughout the season.

The Two River Little League (TRLL) scheduled provided some intense competition vs strong opponents such as the Red Bank Blue Rocks, Fair Haven Thunder and Shrewsbury Muckdogs. They also renewed a long-standing Rumson vs Rumson rivalry with some top-class baseball games vs the Rumson Knights, Rumson Riverdogs and the Rumson Rock Hounds.

Fans are extremely proud of the boys in orange for their hard work this season. That said, we expect the group to spend the off-season hitting the weight room and watching film before they return next year for Spring training.
