Rumson Community Honors Veterans

The Rumson community came together with a fantastic display of patriotism to honor America’s Veterans. As the 100-year old tradition dictates, the ceremony was started at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.

In true Rumson fashion, it was a collaborative effort in celebrating our nation’s servicemen and servicewomen.

Councilman John Conklin brilliantly served as the Master of Ceremonies. The Student Government members of Forrestdale School kicked off the event with the posting of colors as well as leading the Pledge of Allegience, a job they managed superbly.

Reverend Jeffrey Roy of St George’s by The River led the crowd in a heartfelt Invocation and later returned for the Benediction.

Twin third graders, Olivia and Catherine Bruno were instrumental as well. Catherine welcomed the guests and distributed the programs. Catherine delivered an unforgettable rendition of the National Anthem.

The keynote speaker was Josh Zegar, a n RFH alumni with an impeccable resume as a pilot in the United States Marine Corps. Major Zager complimented the men and women of service. He also praised his fellow veterans and spoke about the importance of Veterans Day. His remarks were well-delivered and were certainly impactful to the Victory Park Crowd.

The Borough truly appreciates everyone involved in the observance. It is an honor to have so many brave and courageous veterans in our community. We wish them thanks and best wishes on this important day and throughout the year.
