Session 2 = July 20-30 (Monday – Thursday for 2 weeks)
8:00-9:30AM
The learn to row camp is for Rumson and Fair Haven residents entering 7th grade who are 12 years old are eligible as well as rising 8th and 9th graders. Rising 10th-12th graders may also join if they are inexperienced and want to learn the sport. Often, older students are moved throughout the summer from learn to row into the HS program.
Sessions are Monday - Thursday at Victory Park in Rumson. Campers will be taught the fundamentals of proper stroke technique, safe conditioning practices and rowing safety. Participants will learn proper rowing terminology and proper equipment handling.
NOTE: Those 12 & under are required to wear a personal flotation device while rowing, which will be provided for each participant. Weather on the river is always a factor; If the conditions are unfit for the campers to be on the water, the sessions are moved inside Bingham Hall for erg training and general cardio.
Cost: $375 Per Rower per session.
A swim test is required for all participants prior to the start of the program. Please contact Rec@rumsonrecreation.org for the form, which can be completed by any certified lifeguard.
