Updated Code of Conduct for Coaches, Parents & Participants
Coaching Requirements - All volunteer coaches and assistant coaches are required to have completed a fingerprint background check, the Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y Coaching Certification, and an on-line Concussion Course. All costs are incurred by Rumson Recreation.
Positive Coaching Alliance - Coaches and parents are encouraged to attend the Positive Coaching Alliance workshops offered throughout the year. In addition, we have several slots available for PCA on-line workshops. Please email Kevin Delia for more information on these courses. Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y Clinic (Mandatory within 12 Months) - This clinic provides the minimum standards for volunteer coaches regarding safety orientation and training skills. During the year, Rumson Recreation hires a clinician from the Rutgers Youth Sports Research Council to provide the clinic in town. The Recreation Director will notify coaches regarding dates and time. The Rumson Recreation Department pays for the coaches' registration fees and materials fees. Next Clinic, Thursday March 10th at 7:15pm — 10pm, Bingham Hall, 40 Bingham Ave, Rumson (doors lock at 7.00pm, arrive 6.45pm to sign in). On-line registration open Jan 1 under "Spring" season "Rutgers Coaching Clinic" (please do not make a new Community Pass family account, use existing account).
Fingerprint Background Check (Mandatory before Coaching) [Updated as of 8/4/14] -
STEP 1: Print the New Jersey Universal Fingerprint Form for Youth Serving Volunteer below. Form should have pre-printed info: ORI #: NJ920610Z, Category: YSB, Statute: 15A:3A-1, Reason: Youth Serving Volunteer, Doc Type: VB1. YOU MUST FILL IN: Contributor's Case #: N08008 [the "0s" are zeroes], Misc: [Fill in Sport you will be coaching this season].
STEP 2: Schedule an appointment at Morpho Trak in Ocean Township on-line (no walk-ins) at www.bioapplicant.com/nj. May need information from Universal Fingerprint Form above and scheduling may take several weeks. The Cost is $25.70, which volunteer must pay at the time of background check. The Borough of Rumson will reimburse Rumson Rec volunteers who turn in to Rec Director a completed voucher, valid receipt, and W-9 (see STEP 3 below).
STEP 3: Submit Morpho Trak receipt, completed Municipal Voucher, and W-9 to Sarah Orsay for reimbursement
On-Line Concussion Course (Mandatory before Coaching) - Rumson Recreation requires that all coaches and assistant coaches complete a free on-line concussion course, which takes approximately 30 minutes. Once completed, please print form, sign, date, and return to Sarah Orsay at Rumson Borough Hall, 80 East River Road, or scan and email to email@example.com. The course can be found at www.njmel.org.
